In September 1965, Charles and Sharon Clayton purchased the Motorcycle Journal, which began publishing in Huntington Park, California in January 1964. More than four decades later, Cycle News remains America's weekly motorcycle newspaper. With circulation throughout the United States and the world, Cycle News delivers up-to-the-minute news about National and International competition, personality profiles, new product reviews, and impressions of all new motorcycles.

Before using Compete Consulting Group (CCG), Cycle News spent an average of $12,500 a week on its overnight shipping, approximately $650,000 in annual expenditures. In its office, Cycle News used both DHL and UPS; they spent several hours a day generating individual shipments to their various dealers. Cycle News needed CCG’s assistance not only with rate savings, but also to automate its shipping process and consolidate to one national shipping carrier.

CCG is saving Cycle News 38%, in excess of $250,000 a year on its overnight shipping. With CCG, Cycle News spends an average of $7,700 a week, approximately $400,000 annually. CCG implemented an automated shipping process that no longer requires Cycle News to manually enter each one of its vendors shipping information, reducing the time spent on creating shipments in half. CCG assisted in consolidating Cycle News to using the shipping carrier of its choice: FedEx.
